H&M swings its hips in first dance collection

H&M has teamed up with American choreographer JaQuel Knight to launch the first dance collection from ‘H&M Move’.

Knight and the Swedish fashion house have been collaborating since August and now he’s stepping back into the spotlight with the functional collection for dancers. In the campaign with dancers, he is presenting a collection for men and women, H&M announced on Thursday. The collection focuses on pieces such as polo shirts, tracksuits, leggings and mesh tops.

In the women’s pieces, structured fabrics and the elimination of seams in certain details are intended to improve the fit of tights and tops. In terms of colour, the collection relies on various shades of green, Bordeaux red and simpler colors such as navy blue, grey, brown and black and white.

“We firmly believe in the power, beauty and benefits of dance as a form of movement,” said Simon Brown, General Manager H&M Move. “With this dance collection, we want to empower people when they dance, but also make them feel great because of their style and fit.”

For the perfect swing, H&M’s ‘DryMove’ material, which features ‘moisture-wicking technology’, is used throughout the collection.

The first ‘H&M Move Dance’ collection has been available online and in stores since October 6th. The pieces are priced between 9.99 euros for a pair of sports socks and 39.99 for a pair of training pants or jacket.
