H&M sells call center in Nuremberg

After months of negotiations, the Swedish fashion chain H&M has sold its call center in Nuremberg with 500 employees. The call center specialist Webhelp, which operates worldwide and is already based in Nuremberg, has taken over the center and will continue to operate it, both companies announced on Thursday. Webhelp will also look after H&M customers.

With the takeover of the 500 employees, Webhelp will double the number of its employees at its German headquarters in Nuremberg. According to the information, Webhelp employs a total of 110,000 people in 60 countries around the world. There should be a two-year employment guarantee for the 500 H&M employees. Nothing was known about the purchase price.

The H&M call center has repeatedly hit the headlines. Among other things, there were allegations in 2019 that personal data, for example on the health of employees, had been siphoned off and passed on by supervisors. Most recently, employees had demonstrated because they had been left in the dark about the future of the call center. (dpa)
