Historical! Prodigy Luke Littler marches into the final

Shooting star Luke Littler has continued his sensational winning streak and has reached the final of the 2024 Darts World Cup.

The “child prodigy” is about to hit the big time: super talent Luke Littler has stormed into the final of the Darts World Cup and can hope for the historic crowning of his sensational triumph.

The 16-year-old Englishman eliminated his compatriot and former champion Rob Cross 6-2 in a high-class semi-final, shook London’s Ally Pally – and could become the youngest player in history to secure the World Cup title on Wednesday.

“I’m at a loss for words. It’s just crazy that I’m in the World Cup final on my debut,” said Littler on “Sky Sports” – and at the same time revealed his plan for the final: “I’ll do what I’ve always done “Eat an omelet with ham and cheese in the morning, then come here, eat pizza and train.”

The exceptional talent once again acted in a way that no one of his age had ever done before. Strong nerves and unfazed by the hustle and bustle around him, Littler delivered another amazingly calm top performance in a thrilling duel at eye level, as in the previous rounds.

In the final the teenager will face Englishman Luke Humphries, who then won 6-0 against Scott Williams in the second semi-final.

Early setback does not shock “prodigy” Luke Littler

With his carefree nature, “The Nuke” (“The Atomic Bomb”) became a crowd favorite in record time – even before his semi-final duel, he played with the crowd during his entry.

However, Littler, who was hailed as a “child prodigy” in the English media, suffered an early setback: Cross was not deterred, started extremely strong and grabbed the first set.

Littler, who had eliminated the older competition with almost no problem during the tournament, didn’t struggle for long – and immediately continued his recent achievements.

The youngster from the northwest of England quickly fought back, withstood the pressure of his opponent and won the next three sets. However, Cross stuck with it and the two Englishmen exchanged blows openly.

Darts World Cup 2024: Luke Littler new top favorite

After Cross, who was the first player in the Ally Pally to spectacularly turn around a 0:4 deficit in the quarter-finals against Chris Dobey the day before, had reduced the score to 2:3, Junior World Champion Littler increased the number of hits once again.

Cross could no longer keep up, the youngster immediately used his first match dart. Not only since top star Michael van Gerwen’s unexpected exit on New Year’s Day has Littler been considered the biggest tournament favorite.

The youngest World Cup title holder from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is van Gerwen, who surprisingly lost to Williams in the quarter-finals on New Year’s Day. The Dutchman triumphed in London for the first time in 2014 at the age of 24.
