On AT5, Brandsteder could be seen, among other things, at the unveiling of his own wax statue in Madame Tussauds and to put a croquette baker in the spotlight when frying his millionth croquette. “Of those million, I spent 700 back in 35 years.”
Brandsteder was born in De Pijp in 1950, but grew up in Bussum. Later he lived in Breukeleveen, on the Loosdrechtse Plassen. He also had an apartment in Amsterdam-Zuid.
In his later years, the star reporter Frank Awick is testing Brandsteder in rehearsals for a show with André van Duin (2011) and a musical (2014). Until the end he was quickly with the joke, often at the expense of himself. Ron Brandsteder was 74 years old.
