The corporate headquarters of the German online fashion retailer Zalando SE has had a new owner: on Monday, the real estate company Hines announced that it had sold the building in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain. The buyer of the property, which was completed in 2019, was “a real estate fund launched by Universal-Investment for the Bavarian Supply Chamber (BVK) on the Luxembourg platform,” explained Hines. The building previously belonged to a real estate fund that is also based in Luxembourg. Both parties have agreed not to publish the purchase price, announced Hines.

“The building impresses with its excellent location in the Mediaspree location, the innovative and sustainable building concept and Zalando as a long-term tenant,” said Kai-Magnus Schulte, Managing Director at Hines Immobilien, in a press release. “We are pleased that we have found a well-known buyer in the Bavarian Supply Chamber and that we will continue to look after the property as an asset manager in the long term.”

The previous owner took over the property, which has a total rental area of 42,000 square meters, in 2018 while the construction work was ongoing at the time. Hines had already advised the then buyer on this transaction. Zalando moved into the building complex in summer 2019. The listed e-commerce specialist has a “long-term lease” for the entire property, said Hines.
