"Highest possible level of isolation in the world”: this is ‘Arctic Wolf’, the prison where Kremlin critic Navalny is now being held

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny (47) has been found in a prison camp in northern Russia three weeks after he was reported missing by supporters. According to his lawyer Ivan Zhdanov, this concerns the IK-3 penal camp, also known as ‘Arctic Wolf’. He calls it one of the northernmost and remotest penal colonies: “The living conditions are tough, with a special regime in the area where the ground is always frozen,” he says.
