“During the summer for the first time with the ICE to the Belgian North Sea coast,” Deutsche Bahn said in a press release. Conversely, it also means that travelers from Leuven, Ghent, Bruges and Ostend will be able to travel directly to the German cities of Aachen and Cologne.
The railway company will operate the additional ICE connection between Cologne and Brussels – the ninth per day – from June 3 to August 31 (except July 21 to August 5). Like the other ICEs, it stops en route in Aachen and Liège, but also in Leuven. And during the weekends, the train also runs from Brussels to Ostend, with stops in Ghent and Bruges.
During weekends, the HST departs Cologne just after 10 a.m. and arrives in Ostend shortly before 2 p.m. Departure from the coast is scheduled about half an hour later, with arrival in Cologne around 6 p.m.
