High prices are also felt during the holidays: almost half of Belgians are going to save on gifts | Interior

Amid high inflation and rising energy prices, it is becoming increasingly difficult for more Belgians to make ends meet, and the holidays are no different.

The Grand Poll of VTM NEWS and HLN shows that 44 percent of Belgians will spend less on presents, for Sinterklaas, Christmas and New Year, compared to last year. However, not everyone wants to save. For example, 47 percent of our compatriots say they will spend the same amount on gifts as in previous years. In fact, three percent of Belgian respondents will spend more on gift shopping.

Moreover, the Flemings can do just a little more than the Walloons and Brussels residents. For example, 41 percent of Flemish people plan to save, while in Brussels and Wallonia that is eight percent more.
