High heels or a croquette in your tree: with Christmas 2022 it’s allowed to get out of the way

Provide your Christmas tree with a self-chosen light show and no ordinary Christmas bauble but high heels or, why not, a croquette in the tree. Santa is gone again so the focus can be fully on Christmas again. In a large garden center in Amsterdam Osdorp, they are completely ready for the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ with countless square meters of Christmas decorations. “At Christmas 2022, the trick is to do the decoration completely in your own style,” says floor manager Niek Ottenhof.

The artificial tree is still on the rise. They come in all shapes and sizes and often deceptively real. “People are increasingly opting for an artificial tree,” says Niek. “It lasts you a long time and it is of course also sustainable.” And also in terms of price, there is something for everyone. For example, there is a copy for the sweet sum of more than seventeen hundred euros. But then you also have a lifelike tree of four meters high.

Personalize your Christmas tree

And you can then provide that tree with your self-composed light show. “You can operate the lights with an app. She can choose between countless colors and patterns,” the floor manager explains. “You can’t think of it as crazy as it is possible.” And there are walls full of all kinds of Christmas balls, but in every conceivable shape. From hamburgers to a head of broccoli to a Santa Claus with tattoos and sunglasses. “And that way you can dress your tree entirely according to your own preferences,” explains Ottenhof.

Despite the fact that the Sinterklaas party still reverberates a bit, it is already quite busy in the Christmas department. “Celebrated Christmas Eve with the little ones yesterday,” says a young mother. “But today the Christmas tree goes straight into the house. I’m looking forward to it.”
