HIFK acquired a new player – Kultaleijona joins the ranks

Helsinki IFK has acquired in its ranks Antti Pihlströmthe club informs on its website.

Pihlström, 39, moves to Helsinki from Hämeenlinna Ball Club. The experienced attacker has signed a contract with HIFK for the rest of the season.

– We are well aware of Antti’s strengths and we believe he will help the team in this spring’s games, HIFK’s sports director Tobias Salmelainen said in the club’s press release.

Pihlström represented HPK for the previous three and a half seasons. This season, he has played in 43 regular season games and scored 8+9=17 power points in them. HPK announced on Tuesday that it had terminated the contract with Pihlström by mutual consent.

HPK justified the cancellation of the contract by securing its finances.

Pihlström has played a total of 469 regular season matches in the SM league with an output of 96+115=211. In addition to HPK, the agile forward has represented JYP, SaiPa and Blues in Jyväskylä during his SM league career.

Pihlström has also played in the KHL and NHL in his career. He represented the Jokers, CSKA Moscow and Salavat Yulayev Ufa in the KHL. In the NHL, Pihlström has played for the Nashville Predators.

During his career in Leijon, Pihlström has won World Championship gold, among other things.

HIFK said at the same time that the club’s striker promise Casper Lundell will move to HPK for rent. Iltalehti reported on the matter earlier on Tuesday.

HIFK also announced that the contract for 2024-2025 through Lundell has been terminated.

More departures

HPK announced earlier on Tuesday that it had terminated the contract by mutual consent Markus Nenonen with.

Nenonen played his sixth season in HPK. The winger moved to HPK for the 2018–2019 season and played a total of 324 matches in the club. In them he made 88+87=175 powers.
