In Naples in ’44 the Americans were all Joes. That’s what girls who were willing to have a night of love in exchange for money or some favors called them.

Joe was also Dean, but Lucia falls in love with himbelieving in the promise of a return. Enzo, son of that meetingis already an adult when Dean, informed of his existence by a telegram delivered 13 years late, sets out to look for him.

After The children’s boat, Giovannesi, again with Maurizio Braucci writing, returns to explore his city – alleys and lowlands, and then the sea, but tumultuous – which returns through the gaze of a disappointed man, a veteran of three wars, no longer victorious, having arrived on the other side of the world.
