‘He’s on the wrong night’

Carlo Boszhard disappoints with the fourth season of his TV show I Can See Your Voice. Where the first three series invariably exceeded the million, he is now far below.

It is really bad for Carlo Boszhard: his RTL 4 program I Can See Your Voice is no longer a big hit. While the first three series managed to entertain an average of 1.1 million viewers, the fourth season started last week with 679 thousand viewers. And yesterday there were still 604 thousand (14 percent market share) left.

‘He disappoints’

Viewing figure authority Tina Nijkamp thinks Carlo is on the wrong night. “I Can See Your Voice disappoints on the Wednesday of RTL 4. With 604 thousand viewers, he is the number two of the half past eight and also the number two in the commercial target group 20 to 54 years with more than 14 percent.

So no sounding numbers. “Wednesday is not the most suitable day. Isn’t this a family program for Friday or Saturday anymore? What advice? On Fridays, it always scored above the million. It also scored much better on Thursday. Two panel shows in a row (tonight comes Fout Maar Goud) might also be too much.”

‘It’s too in-crowd’

According to Tina, there is something else going on. By scraping the controversial Danny de Munk from the jury, the program now works with changing jury members. “Guest judges are not a good move for the ratings. It also felt very in-crowd with Trijntje and Edsilia (sisters-in-law) yesterday.”

But is Tina the right woman to judge that Carlo’s show is not a success? Yes. At least, that’s what Carlo thinks himself. “Whereas the so-called TV experts used to think that the top 25 of Stichting KijkOnderzoek was decisive, Tina knows better. There is only one category of viewers that really matters, namely the messengers,” he recently wrote.

And that is exactly where Carlo disappoints, according to Tina.

Ajax on one

The most popular TV broadcast of the evening in this target group was the Ajax – Glasgow Rangers match with 1.2 million viewers (31 percent) on RTL 7. The report of this was shown in the evening, so not opposite Carlo at prime time. In the commercial target group, this duel recorded a market share of 35 percent.

The prime-time winners were NPO 1’s Oogappels (1 million and 23 percent), RTL 7’s review (624 thousand and 14 percent), NPO 1’s Hands aan de Couveuse (607 thousand and 15 percent) and only then I Can See Your Voice.

The SBS 6 combination Steenrijk Straatarm and Today Inside attracted 481 thousand viewers (11 percent) and 592 thousand viewers (15 percent).
