Herman Wiersema is an experienced driver. He is now a manager at National Coordinator of Terrorism and Security (NCTV) and National Crisis Center (NCC). Wiersema was a manager and advisor at the municipality of Amersfoort for this. From 2014 to 2018 he was chairman of the PvdA in Amsterdam.
Wiersema temporarily takes over from Gerard van den Hengel, who will be the new mayor of Haaksbergen. The appointment of Wiersema starts on 27 May and applies until a new mayor for Opmeer has been found.
