On Wednesday evening, Jasmmi Joensuu secured the victory of the Sprint Skiing World Cup in Tallinn.
The achievement is high, as the last Finns were able to do the same for almost 20 years, in 2006-07, Virpi Kuitunen, now Sarasvuo.
– There has been a steady and hard performance throughout the season, even though maybe such a spike result is missing except Toblach. I wouldn’t have thought that I could do this before the start of the season. It’s a really crazy feeling.
Health is always the most important thing for a top athlete.
– Exactly zero sickness day during this race season. I think it’s a pretty good achievement, Joensuu said.
Coach’s praise
Skier’s head coach Teemu Pasanen Naturally, it was a great achievement.
– He has taken one step forward in the sprint. Jasmmi is now able to ski evenly to the final level in practice in the race as in the race. One podium came this season. The level has risen steadily.
– He has been working for many years and now it starts to bear fruit. It starts to come to the top positions.
Toward the Olympic medal
Sprint cannon Jasmmi Joensuu competes over the weekend in Lahti. Pasi Liesimaa
Joensuu is 28 years old. She still has a lot of goals in cross -country skiing.
The following are already next winter.
– I had two big goals at this season. One was the winner of the overall cup in the sprint and the other was the value race in Trondheim.
-I managed to win the overall cup, and the World Cup became two fourth places. Yes, I want it a medal next season, a determined athlete downloads his or her goals in a familiar way.
At next season’s value races, Joensuu means the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
The World Cup ends in Lahti
There is another sprint race and one weekend in the cross -country skiing World Cup. It is done between Friday and Sunday in Salpausselkä.
After the weekend of Lahti, Finland’s top skiers will be ahead, for example, two competitions in the Finnish Cup.
