Timothée Chalamet recently revealed how long he has been preparing for his role as Bob Dylan. In order to be confident on the harmonica for the biopic “A Complete Unknown”, he took many, many lessons.
In addition, the actor had to learn several of the musician’s songs, as some of them can be heard in the film. And since Chalamet is still one of the most in-demand mimes in Hollywood, it was almost a casual thing.
During an appearance in the “Late Show” with Stephen Colbert The 28-year-old said that he began preparing for “A Complete Unknown” before the pandemic in 2019 and then, like many others, production was paused.
In the meantime he has made two “Dune” films. However, the challenge of being as close as possible to the Nobel Prize winner always remained in the back of my mind. Colbert shared a video of the actor dressed as Paul Atreides from the “Dune” films, playing Dylan’s “It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry” on guitar. “With some Dune text variations from me,” Chalamet added with a laugh.
“A Complete Unknown” opens in the US on December 25th. The biopic will only be available to see in Germany from February 27, 2025. You can now get a first impression of Chalamet’s singing skills. ROLLING STONE has already listened carefully.
