Heracles Almelo immediately suspends Rai Vloet | Football

“As it has become known to us today, Vloet may have not only driven too fast that night, but also drank too much. Both are absolutely unacceptable. In the weeks and months after the accident, Vloet stated several times to us as an employer that he had not driven faster than the permitted speed limit of 130 kilometers per hour, and had not drunk more than two alcoholic drinks. On the basis of this incorrectly provided information, Heracles Almelo has until now taken all its decisions in good faith and as a good employer,” said General Director Rob Toussaint of Heracles Almelo.

Rob Toussaint: „If we as a club had known this essential information earlier, we would of course have decided otherwise, in the interest of both the victim’s family and everyone else involved, and never let Vloet participate in training and play. We deeply regret that the family also has to go through this, in addition to the traumatic accident that happened to them. The club will contact the family again in the near future. Our thoughts continue to go out to them.”
