Many people are very surprised that Glennis Grace only received a community service of 200 hours for her explosion of violence in the Jumbo. She does not have to go to prison, not even on probation, because according to the judge she has already been punished disproportionately harshly in the public domain.

Stella critical

Opinion maker Stella Bergsma can live with this punishment, but thinks it is on the low side. “Yes fine. You can say it could have been even more. The environmental activists were recently sentenced to an additional two months in prison. It could have been a little more, but can we go ahead and leave her alone?”

Although she finds the punishment a bit on the lean side, according to Stella, it is time to let go of the witch hunt now. “At some point when she has done that, I also want her to be able to pick up her career again.”

light punishment

Private boss Evert Sankrediets thinks Glennis is lucky. “She gets away with it well and I hope she sees that herself. That is apparently the penalty in the Netherlands,” he says in the podcast Strict Private.

Wierd Duk points out that Block Frisian Jenny Douwes was given 240 hours of community service. Does he think the punishment for Glennis is light? “Yes, by comparison. What had Douwes done? He had called for the activists who came from the Randstad to stop. That was fun and then she gets 240 hours,” he says in Today Inside.

Harry angry

Harry Vermeegen is even downright angry. “200 hours of community service, that’s it. If you only give someone like that 200 hours of community service, what kind of signal are you sending to society?” opinion channel.

Society is already sick enough, he says. “Because how is that going? When children are addressed a bit firmly or something happens at school, those parents immediately come: go to that school, and they rage at me there and they start screaming because they don’t like it.”

small army

Glennis is just like that, says Harry. “She didn’t like it, madam was a bit upset and madam goes on high legs with a kind of small army there in the Jumbo and goes there to fight. And you are now giving that signal. Surely you can afford at least a month in jail for this?”

He continues: “Then you at least indicate to everyone in the Netherlands: you can’t just go to the supermarket with a bunch of people if you don’t like it and beat everything up. Of course she has to laugh at this, 200 hours of community service. You just do that, fingers in your nose. That’s not a punishment, is it? No!”
