Henning Riecken is moving from Nuremberg to Hamburg

The Stuttgart retailer E. Breuninger GmbH & Co. does not want to open its new branch in the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier shopping center until the end of next year, which is currently still under construction. On Tuesday, however, the company announced who would run the store. Henning Riecken has been appointed managing director of the Hamburg flagship store, Breuninger explained in a statement.

The retailer is thus relying on a proven specialist: Riecken currently manages the Breuninger store in Nuremberg, having previously managed the branch in Stuttgart. The 54-year-old graduate in business administration will remain “until further notice Managing Director in Nuremberg”, but will “already be part of the ‘Hamburg’ project team”, the company announced. With Riecken’s appointment, Breuninger begins “to build up the Hamburg management team”. According to the company, “first talks with potential applicants are already underway”. A total of around 300 employees would be hired in the Hanseatic city by the time it opened, including for the areas of sales, customer service, visual merchandising, internal logistics and catering.

Breuninger CEO Holger Blecker explained the personnel situation: “Due to his many years of activity in the management of the two Breuninger houses in Stuttgart and Nuremberg, Henning Riecken brings with him exactly the important and necessary experience to develop and successfully manage our new Hamburg location as managing director”. , he explained in a statement. “I am convinced that Henning Riecken is exactly the right choice for our new Breuninger store and I am delighted that he is taking on this important task.”

Riecken is already looking forward to his forthcoming move to the Hanseatic city: “It is both a great honor and responsibility for me to be able to play my part in the development of the Hamburg location,” he explained. “As a native of North Germany, I am really looking forward to this new challenge.
