Henk’s disruption at Schiphol is limited: handful of flights delayed or cancelled

Although the wind is pounding the runways at speeds of around 100 km/h, the inconvenience caused by storm Henk at Schiphol is not too bad.

This is what a spokesperson for Schiphol said. This mainly has to do with the time of the storm: there is much less flying at night than during the day. The spokesperson cannot provide exact numbers.

Some aircraft have made a restart. The second landing attempt for those flights was successful. As far as we know, no aircraft have diverted to other airports, the spokesperson said.

Due to the wind direction (southwest), the Kaagbaan, Schiphol-Oost runway and Polderbaan are mainly used this evening. The use of the Schiphol-Oostbaan as a landing strip means that more air traffic comes over Amsterdam.
