Sebastian Vettel experienced glorious times in Formula 1 with Red Bull. The advisor to the racing team, Helmut Marko, thinks a lot of German.
Sebastian Vettel became world champion several times in Formula. From 2010 to 2013 he crowned himself four times in a row to the best racing driver in the premier class of motorsport-he won all titles with Red Bull. Could the 37-year-old soon take on a significant role in Formula 1? When it comes to Red Bull’s long -standing motorsport consultant Helmut Marko, this is quite imaginable. In conversation with Sky, the 81-year-old Vettel brought into play as a possible successor for his own position.
Marko explained that he could not work forever in his function: the burdens of the constant trips were significant. Therefore, from his point of view, it would be “great if a man like Sebastian would continue to do it”. In terms of Vettel, Marko said: “I think that would be the ideal successor candidate.”
There has been a tight wire between Marko and Vettel for many years. The Austrian had accompanied the Heppenheimer at Red Bull during his time between 2009 and 2014 – an era in which Vettel won his titles. Even today, both are still in exchange, as Vettel reported. It is open whether this will become a concrete role in Red Bull in the future. “You will see whether this will be something in the future,” said the 37-year-old.
Vettel showed understanding for the special meaning of Marko’s role: she was “unique”. If something changes, it must “develop in a new, different direction”.
Marko trusts the former world champion a lot. He has a lot of expertise, both with regard to the strategic orientation of a Formula 1 team and working with young talents. Vettel had recently trained on a kart track as part of the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia with 20 young women between the ages of 14 and 24.
