Helmut Lotti finds it difficult that he has been so tormented by the men of Today Inside. It’s a shame that they judge just one TV appearance, he says. “The song is on Spotify!”
It was quite a surprise when Helmut Lutti appeared in the Today Inside studio in April last year in leather trousers. The general public knows him from all kinds of good classical songs, but suddenly he was on the program singing hard rock. It all looked like it was some kind of joke, but it wasn’t.
‘Makes a fool of me!’
Worse still: Helmut’s performance was unpleasant and was severely mocked a day later by the men of Today Inside. “He was always quite a good singer, but he can’t handle this, this genre,” Johan Derksen sneered. “He is not used to singing in head voice and then he starts to squeak and so on. Yes, then you look like an idiot.”
Johan indicated that Talpa not amused was about the singer’s long performance. “I had no idea that our management would buy that CD box from Helmut Lotti. I had a reaction very early. I also expected him to master this well. Then it was surprising, Helmut Lotti singing hard rock.”
What does Helmut think?
How does Helmut look back on this? “Yes, it is of course not nice that people do not bother to listen to a record that can be heard on Spotify. That is apparently less important than one act on television,” he says Show news.
Is he hoping for a rematch in VI? “We even asked, but we were no longer welcome, but I don’t mind. Johan Derksen was never allowed to retry the times he missed the shot.”
Classical music
Helmut still performs as a rock star, although he will be back in his old guise this fall. “We will be playing classical concerts again in the autumn, because then it will be thirty years of the Helmut Lotti Goes Classic. Until then, I’ll keep rocking on. Hopefully there will also be a fun festival summer.”
