In many municipalities the votes had already been counted and passed on on Wednesday night, but in Helmond we still had to wait and see. Only during the morning were the votes sent to the central polling station. That was due to a malfunction.
Due to the computer malfunction, the votes could not be forwarded. All votes were received and counted last night, says Roseliek van Geel, spokesperson for the municipality of Helmond, in the radio program KEIgoeiemorgen!.
“But there was a computer malfunction, so we could not forward the votes to the central polling station last night.”
The municipality of Helmond has 42 voting locations. “It looked like the computer was getting overloaded.” Van Geel says that counting continued until half past two in the morning. The municipality therefore already knew the result at party level.
“But last night we could not forward the votes. Then we decided: we will stop now, tomorrow we will continue counting fresh and fruity.” During the morning, the municipality reported the results at party level.
PVV the largest
Two years ago, the PVV became the largest in the municipality with 34 percent of the votes. The VVD and NSC came in second and third place.
