After his exuberant rock ‘n’ roll phase immediately following the defamation trial in Fairfield, Virginia, Johnny Depp is now back in front of the television cameras. At the Video Music Awards of the clip broadcaster MTV, VMAs for short, he appeared to the viewers as a virtual moon man.
During the awards ceremony, Depp’s face was digitally beamed as a “man on the moon” into the helmet of an astronaut who was rappelling from the ceiling. “Hey guys, you know what? I really wanted to come back to work,” he joked after a performance by US rapper Jack Harlow and his song partner Fergie (“First Class”).
As various US media reported, Depp was also joking after Lizzo’s performance of the songs “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)”: “I just want you to know that for birthdays, Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, wakes and similar celebrations – just for anything you need me for.”
Exactly ten years ago, Depp received the Generation Award at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards for belting out the song “Gold on the Ceiling” with The Black Keys.
After the end of the trial and the “victory” against Amber Heard, Depp was known to be on tour with Jeff Beck, with whom he also released the album “18”.
He also announced a reunion with The Hollywood Vampires, his on/off supergroup featuring veterans like Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen. The first film shooting is already in progress in full gear.
