Hélène Hendriks caused quite a stir by wearing a Moroccan dress in a Ziggo Sport football broadcast. How does she even get it? “I just borrowed it.”
The Africa Cup is in full swing and that means that Hélène Hendriks has to continue working this Christmas. She does it with pleasure and she especially radiated that last Sunday, when Morocco played and she wore a typical Moroccan dress during the Ziggo Sport broadcast. However, not everyone liked that; Henk Spaan was even pissed.
Hate everything
René van der Gijp finds that bizarre. “It made me very happy, but I read about people who weren’t happy about it, right? It didn’t make Henk Spaan happy, but it made me really happy. When you open a TV program like that, isn’t that nice, man? You feel comfortable in it right away,” he says in Today Inside.
Studio guest Goedele Liekens missed the fuss. “Did they think it was cultural theft or something?”
Thomas van Groningen then: “Henk Spaan just hates everything we do here, right?”
Johan Derksen: “I don’t think Henk Spaan is one of our biggest fans.”
Nice addition
Hélène still supports it. “I wore a Moroccan dress, because we broadcast the Africa Cup with Ziggo Sport, and especially follow Morocco,” she says in the H&M Podcast. “I thought it was a nice addition. We have a very Moroccan studio and our director is Moroccan.”
“I said, ‘Doesn’t your wife have a nice dress for me?’ I thought: then I can finally wear a dress in that studio. That you will stand in full glory. I thought: it’s fun, so I did it.”
