Some viewers found the fact that Helene Fischer sang a duet with Nena more than questionable.
On December 25th, 2023, Helene Fischer invited people again to the big “Helene Fischer Show”. In addition to a duet with Shirin David, the German pop superstar also performed a song with Nena.
The two sang the Nena piece “Love is” together. Many viewers didn’t like this collaboration at all – although it wasn’t the musical qualities that caused criticism from some Twitter users.
“A statement to sing with Nena”
The reason for the criticism was Nena’s statements during the corona pandemic, which earned her the reputation of a “swearer” or “lateral thinker”. At the time, Nena had taken part in a celebration with protagonists from the “Querdenker”, Reichsbürger and QAnon scenes, among other things. “It’s also a statement to sing with Nena,” says one user. Another sarcastically asks whether the pop singer and alleged conspiracy theorist Michael Wendler would appear as an encore.
A Fischer fan is disappointed that she invites “lateral thinker Nena” and attests: “Nogo [sic!] Helene”
Others find the criticism of Nena’s performance ridiculous and accuse the “woke bubble” of indignation. But some were also happy about the joint performance in a completely non-ideological way.
