
Tesfu ran a great personal record. His previous best time was 2.09.45 from the Rotterdam marathon this spring. He took more than three minutes off that mark. Tesfu qualified with his time for the European Championships next year in Birmingham.
Eternal ranking
Nageeye is still the best Dutchman in the marathon. The winner of Olympic silver at the 2021 Games improved his Dutch record to 2.04.20 in the London marathon this spring.
Tesfu passed Gerard Nijboer (2.09.02), Kamiel Maase (2.08.21) and Khalid Choukoud (2.07.37) in the eternal rankings.
