The fire started around 5 pm, shortly after the arrival of the cycling classic Gent-Wevelgem. The resident heard a bang, after which fire broke out immediately. When the fire brigade arrived, the flames already broke out. The fire also spread in the insulation of the outside walls, so that the cladding had to be broken open to completely extinguish the fire.
The smoke development was considerable and spread over the neighborhood. A neighbor was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but remained unharmed. Reception is being sought for the affected family.
