That triage now just caused queues. “We are aware of the traffic jam and keep an eye on the situation. It is not intended that the traffic jam comes to the A11, because that is dangerous. Then we will intervene. We will follow everything closely with mobile teams and avoiding problems with this triage,” says Korpschef Steve Desmet. “The queues do show that a lot of cars also want to enter the center on a weekday.”

Mayor Coudyser also emphasizes that the plan is being activated for nothing. “We are aware that it is a bit calmer during the week than in the weekend in good weather, but still a lot of people drop by the car to the center. We also want to be consistent. If it gets hot in the interior, we have to prepare for big crowds, also on weekdays,” says the mayor. “We activate the plan at high temperatures from the beginning of June, until about the end of September.”

The heat plan remains in force until 6 pm, unless people can be scaled up earlier. Also tomorrow, Friday, the plan will come into effect.
