Tip 1: Finale Zonneprijs in Paradiso Amsterdam

After eight preliminary rounds, the time has finally come on June 1. Then the grand finale of Amsterdam’s hottest new pop prize, the Zonneprijs. Eight talented bands and acts compete against each other in the final in Paradiso in the battle for the title. The preliminary rounds were held in recent months in the Zonnehuis in Tuindorp Oostzaan in Amsterdam-Noord, hence the name Zonneprijs.

In the last preliminary round, Jan Modaal in particular stood out with his tearjerkers punk. Singer Jan shone like a true pop star and sang songs about the housing shortage in Amsterdam. “You are not allowed to live in a caravan, you are not allowed to live in a shed, you are allowed to live in a house, but that is ridiculously expensive”, Jan sings with his unadulterated Amsterdam accent and then the band erupts in the punk chorus: ” Born, raised, evicted!”. The jury praised the charisma and the contact with the audience and sent Jan Modaal to the final. They are a strong contender for the title there.

The show Biblical farmers is a visual music theater spectacle that examines the rural culture of North Holland. The performance is played in the Ringers factory in Alkmaar.

And then there is the performance Something about farmers. It is a performance about farm life today, seen from the perspective of the youngest generation of farmers. The country is in turmoil. The farmer is fed up. Costs that are too high, prices that are too low, too little appreciation and new rules all the time. The farmer leaves the stable and field and goes to war. Further on, the ranger counts the birds, the scientist measures the weather, the politician comes up with a plan, the activist tapes himself and the customer looks at the price of the sausage.
