TODoes a tidy house equate to having a tidier and less anxious mind? Yes: a tidy house is a form of meditation and helps fight anxiety and depression. Being surrounded by “things” increases the work of the visual cortex and overloads the brain. To experience this well-being, simply start by following five small habits, to be adopted every day.

1. Collect everything
Go around the house and pick up anything that is out of place. You can put everything in a basket and then put everything back in its place.

2. Throw away everything that is superfluous
From receipts to loose leaflets to newspapers that have been read and are now gathering dust on the table. It’s time to throw it all away.

3. Change the air in the bedroom. And not only that
Open the windows, especially in the morning after getting up to air the rooms. At least 10 minutes are needed to “get a change of scenery”.

4. Put and leave in order immediately
As soon as you return, put everything away: from the keys, to the shoes and jackets. If everything has its place it is easier to find it.

5. Apply the 80/20 rule
Fill only 80% of the spaces, leaving 20% free. You have visual well-being in not seeing the house too full and you have space for new things.
