Julio Velázquez is the new head coach of Fortuna Sittard. The 40-year-old Spaniard is the successor of Sjors Ultee, who was fired after three rounds in the Eredivisie. He has signed a contract that expires at the end of this season.
Velázquez is taking assistant coach Jaime Mut, performance coach Javier Chocarro and data analyst Miguel Pérez to Sittard. “I have carefully analyzed the selection in the past period,” he says on the website of his new club. “There is a group with enormous potential, the position in the ranking gives a distorted picture in my opinion. Of course the position brings pressure, but you should not run away from that. We must all work towards the common goal to take this club to the next level.”
Fortuna Sittard is still scoreless after five rounds.
