a man has passed away this Saturday after being attacked with a stab by another maleafter trying to mediate an argument inside a restaurant in Verges (Girona).
The aggressor, a 56-year-old resident of the town of Baix Empordà, attacked him with a machete, causing serious injuries for which he has had to undergo surgery and which have finally caused his death.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have reported that the events occurred around 02.40 hours, when both men have gotten into an argument and one has stabbed the other with a knife.
Sources close to the case have indicated that the dispute has started in a well-known restaurant in the municipality, where the aggressor has had problems with a client.
After leaving the establishment, when he was in Carrer Baix Empordà, parallel to the restaurant, the aggressor confronted the victim, took out a machete and stabbed her in the neck.
The attacker arrested
Witnesses to the events have immediately alerted the police and members of the Medical Emergency System (SEM) have transferred the injured to the Josep Trueta Hospital of Girona, where he underwent emergency surgery and where he finally died.
The Mossos have immediately identified the aggressorwho was located at his house around 4:15 a.m., where he was still wearing the same clothes, which were stained with blood.
Searching around, agents have located the weapon with which the attack took place lying in a pot, where the investigators suppose that the detainee threw it when fleeing.

The detainee will spend the next few hours at the disposition of the Investigating Court of La Bisbal d’Empordà.
The Mossos, for their part, keep the investigation open to clarify the facts and the motive for the attack, for which they are taking statements from witnesses.
