HBL: Handball leader Magdeburg wins again

Lübbecke (dpa) – SC Magdeburg continues to show no weakness in the title fight of the Handball Bundesliga. The leader of the table came to an unchallenged 30:20 (12:8) victory at the newly promoted TuS N-Lübbecke on Saturday and now has 36:2 points.

The best throwers for the winner were left winger Lukas Mertens and Icelander Omar Ingi Magnusson, each with five goals.

Vice-champion SG Flensburg-Handewitt kept his mini-chance for the championship with a 30:20 (13:12) against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf. The SG, for which Emil Jacobsen was the most successful scorer with seven goals, is six points behind the Magdeburg team.

The Rhein-Neckar Löwen saved a point shortly before the end in the 26:26 (13:12) against HC Erlangen, but are still waiting for their first win under the new coach Ljubomir Vranjes. After two game cancellations due to corona, MT Melsungen easily solved their first task after the EM break against the penultimate HBW Balingen-Weilstetten with 28:21 (14:10).
