“I feel more comfortable as a central defender, but if the coach asks me to play as a winger, I’ll do my best,” he says.

Ronald Araujo already knew what it’s like to suffer Lewandowski and now he’s discovering what it’s like to play alongside him. This Tuesday the Pole will be the great threat for Bayern. “We all know his quality. Having him with us is something tremendous”said the Uruguayan.
The center-back will not have to worry about Lewandowski, but he will have top-level players in front of him. The Uruguayan recognizes that he always studies the rivals he faces. “I prepare normally, I analyze the players I face. They are of high quality. I have a bit of experience, I played games with players like that and I prepare like any other. Their virtues, what legs they use and little more than that.”
Araujo is convinced that the team is ready to face Bayern. Especially this season where he has taken a defensive leap. “We are at a great level, we knew that we had to improve from last season: conceding few goals. With the quality from above, if we leave the goal at zero we can win the games. It was something pending to reinforce. We will have great forwards in front of us, but we hope leave the bow at zero”.

Bayern will face a totally different Barça and a different state of mind. For the Uruguayan, the improvement is due to a host of factors. “A bit of everything. The arrival of Xavi restored the enthusiasm of the Catalans, people were excited about the signings and their quality. Young people also have more experience and we are growing. It’s a set of things”. The Uruguayan targets the center of defense, but he is also an alternative for the right back. Araujo is flexible about his preferences: “For convenience I feel better playing as a central defender, but if the coach asks me to play as a winger I will give my best”.
The Uruguayan is not afraid of competition: he is ready for the challenge and believes that the new ones improve the squad. “The arrival of Koundé contributes a lot because he is a spectacular player. The best have to be in the best club in the world. I am happy that Koundé or Christensen contribute, add and continue to grow as a club”.
