Havaianas and Market collaborate on thermo-reactive flip flop

Flip-flop specialists Havaianas and US streetwear brand Market have joined forces for an innovative beach gadget.

The Havaianas’ models ‘Top’ and ‘Tradi Zori’ have received an update, the brands announced on Thursday. The absolute “burner” of the models is the footbed, which turns red when heated. The cooperation is complemented by the co-branding of the brands and the lettering “Caution: Hot Sandal”.

Mike Sherman got the idea while visiting Havaianas’ headquarters and factories in Brazil, the release said. The Market Creative Director seems to have gotten hot feet from the visit, as the new flip-flops are meant to visualize “the experience of walking on hot sand”.

The Havaianas and Market heat aids will be available online, in brand stores and at select retailers starting August 3rd. The ‘Top’ model costs 50 euros and the ‘Tradi Zori’ model costs 140 euros.
