Thomas Hässler (56) did it. As the coach of BFC Preussen, the 1990 world champion was promoted to the Berlin league (6th division).
A 2:3 defeat at Stern Britz was enough for his team to get promoted in the relegation second leg of the national league.
The Prussians won the first leg on Wednesday 5-0. Hässler: “After the first leg, many thought it was already decided. In the end we deservedly prevailed. I’m proud of what the boys did with the temperatures.”
What’s next? A midfield place is to be found in the Berlin league. Defensive man Christoph Menz (33) should help. The ex-Union professional from third division relegated Viktoria 89 is negotiating with the world champion.
