If someone is familiar with protests, it is Daryl Hannah. The actress and director and partner of Neil Young has already been arrested half a dozen times because she protested for environmental issues. But even she is difficult with that almost daily chaos make friends of the second Trump government.
“There are too many terrible things to talk about it at all,” says Daryl Hannah from California, where she helps her family to lose the loss of her home Fires in LA to process. “Much of my attention applies to the environment and potential destruction when you consider what we have already experienced with these fires, floods, hurricanes and global devastation.
And once you first to the Minister of Health and Social Affairs, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.to speak, who once campaigned with Hannah against the Keystone XL oil pipeline (both were arrested), she is no longer to be broken. “It’s so disappointing,” she says. “Because he was such a good and influential environmentalist for so long. The fact that he will be part of this government is shocking for many people.”
Exclusive: Daryl Hannah about her problems with Harvey Weinstein
In the interview with Rolling Stone, it’s not just about working with Neil Young. Daryl Hannah’s Hollywood career is also discussed. She explains why her career after “Kill Bill: Volume 2” from 2004 went down the stream. The focus: Miramax producer Harvey Weinstein who wanted to abuse her.
They have 2017 in The New Yorker reports on her terrible experiences with Harvey Weinstein And talked about how he hammered on her hotel room door and later asked to touch her breasts.
That was just the tip of the iceberg. I experienced something like this in almost every film. It was hard to be a young woman in these times. I never had an agent or a publicist or something. So I was really not protected.
You have since “Kill Bill” contributed to television and independent films, but that seems to have been the last big film in which we saw her.
That was it too. It was my last real film. I mean, that’s okay for me. But after that I never got offers again. I was still offered a film in which I didn’t have a very good role. But that was [macht ein Geräusch wie ein Auto, das anhält]. I think that definitely had something to do with Harvey. Because he said something like: “Oh, she is difficult”, or whatever he said.
“He canceled everything, hair and make-up, everything”
It was a fairly violent counter reaction. We were on our way to the Film Festival in Cannes and I had agreed to moderate some charity events. That was right after he tried to get to my hotel in Rome. He got on the plane with all the other actors and left me back there. I not only had to find my own way, my own flights back and forth. I also had to go to Cannes. And they had canceled my hotel room and there was nothing left.
He canceled everything, hair and make-up, everything. So I had nothing. I arrived to do all of these things and dragged my suitcase over the cobblestones, tried to get from person to person, and slept every night on the sofas of the people. It was really a messed up situation. A bad time.
So it was probably a combination of both and the fact that I became 40: a “Oh my god, how can I dare to become 40!”-thing. Who knows, but it’s just the way it is. I never felt comfortable to be a well -known personality. I use my creative energies elsewhere and have been staging for years, and I love that. At least I’m still making films, but it doesn’t have to be about me.
