TENNIS – Tennis star Arianne Hartono from Meppel can play the doubles this weekend during her debut for the Dutch Billie Jean King Cup team. Captain Elise Tamaëla has set her up together with doubles specialist Demi Schuurs.
It is the first time that Hartono has been called up to the Dutch Team, which will play against Spain from Friday. The singles matches are played by Arantxa Rus and Lesley Pattinama-Kerkhove. Leader Rus, the number 74 in the world, will compete in the first game against Nuria Párrizas Díaz, the global number 55. Pattinama-Kerkhove, who is 141st, then meets Sara Sorribes Tormo, the only player in Den Bosch from the top 50: she is 49th.
The matches start on Friday at 2 p.m. in Den Bosch and the stake is a spot at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. The arrangement can still be changed.
