Harry Potter, the paralyzed actor will produce films

THEthe famous interpreter of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffedecided to take on the role of executive producer in the upcoming documentary dedicated to his stunt double, David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived. Holmes, in fact, was his stunt during the filming of the saga films. And, due to a serious accident on set, he was paralyzed from the waist down.

The tragedy occurred while the scenes were being recorded Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. David HolmesDaniel Radcliffe’s stunt double, was busy shooting the most dangerous scenes of the protagonist of the saga.

During a test shoot at Leavesden Film Studios in London (which included an aerial sequence), David Holmes fell forcefully to the ground, due to a controlled explosion that broke the safety devices of the harness he was tied to. It was January 29th 2009. As soon as this incident occurred, he was immediately taken to Watford General Hospital but sadly, on 16 March that year he was diagnosed permanent paralysis of the legs with only a 5% chance of recovery.

The filming of the film released in 2010 was therefore marked by this dramatic accident. The man, who is now confined to a wheelchair, it is for the protagonist of the saga, Daniel Radcliffe, «my greatest source of strength and inspiration».

It is also due to the strong bond that has always existed between the two that Radcliffe has decided to be executive producer of the documentary that tells the life of his stuntman. From his beginnings in Essex to some behind the scenes of his stunts. There will also be interviews with Radcliffe himself and other former members of the crew.

From Harry Potter to the documentary for HBO

In a post on Instagram, David Holmes explained that he spent four years working on the project. Stating: “I can only live thanks to the love and support I have been fortunate enough to receive. And It is because of this love and support that I can now share my journey with all of you».

The film will premiere on HBO on November 15th and will then be available for streaming on Max.

Daniel Radcliffe himself, in an interview with Daily Mirror, had spoken of his bond with Holmes. «I hate the thought that people might see us together and say, “Oh, there’s Daniel Radcliffe with a person in a wheelchair.”. Because I would never, not for a moment, want them to believe that Dave is anything other than an incredibly important person in my life.”
