After the death of British actor Robbie Coltrane, his co-actors from the “Harry Potter” films have remembered the Hagrid actor. “He was an incredible actor and a great person,” shared lead actor Daniel Radcliffe. Coltrane passed away on Friday at the age of 72.
Radcliffe told Variety magazine in the statement that Coltrane was one of the funniest people he’s ever met. “I have particularly fond memories of him keeping our good spirits up in ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’ while we hid for hours in Hagrid’s hut from torrential rain, telling stories and cracking jokes to keep our spirits up,” he wrote “Harry Potter” actors.
“I am heartbroken that Robbie is gone,” wrote Rupert Grint, who plays Harry’s best friend Ron in the films. “I will never forget the smell of cigars and beard glue – a wonderful combination. Nobody else on this planet could have played Hagrid, only Robbie. Just like Hagrid in the books and movies, Robbie was in real life—warm, compassionate, and downright funny.”
“Robbie was like the funniest uncle I’ve ever had,” wrote Hermione actress Emma Watson in an Instagram story. “But most of all, he was deeply compassionate and caring for me, both as a child and as an adult. His talent was so immense that it made sense that he played a giant – he could fill ANY room with his brilliance.”
