THE‘wedding anniversary celebrated yesterday offered to Harry and Meghan the opportunity to put an end once and for all to the rumors of crisis that have haunted them for months. The two videos briefly posted by Markle on her profile Instagram showed his fans a glimpse of the family celebrations that took place in the Sussexes’ kitchen in Montecito, California. Also starring were little Archie, 7 years old, and Lilibet, 5 next month, who listened to the story of how mum and dad met. Thanks to a special cake and a particularly symbolic gift.
The Sussex wedding cake
At one point in the video, Prince Harry appears in the kitchen with a cake that recreates that of wedding banquet held in Windsor, 19 May 2018. The lemon and elderflower dessert was inspired, in fact, by the same aromas used at the time by the London pastry chef Claire Ptak and yesterday Harry made it again, accompanying it with some candles. The prince and the children exclaimed: “Happy anniversary to mother!”. «And to the father!», Meghan immediately added.
The statue of the two embracing penguins
Harry also brought with him a special gift for his wife. Traditionally, after eight years of marriage, the couple is given bronze or ceramic and the prince opted for bronze, giving his wife a statue depicting two penguins embracing. A memory of the masks they wore at the engagement party in 2017.
Harry and Meghan, in love forever, like penguins
As Harry chuckled at Meghan’s obvious surprise, the duchess exclaimed: “What? Oh, my God!». Then he told his children the story behind the image of the penguins: «When mom and dad got engagedwe had a party with all our friends and asked everyone to wear animal onesies. We chose penguins because they stay together for life.” In fact, next to the bronze penguins there was a photo of the masked Sussexes.

A few hours earlier, the Duchess had posted numerous unpublished images – many of them in black and white – of the 2018 ceremony. Less than two years later, the Sussexes would have announced their permanent exit from the British court, losing positions and honours.
The eight year wedding candle
As a tribute to your wedding anniversary, the duchess’ brand As Ever has also launched a new signature candle, N. 519 – Love at first light. Housed in a refined ceramic container and hand-cast in California, the new candle (price: 64 dollars, or approximately 55 euros) It’s made with Moroccan mint, white tea leaves and a woodsy hint of cardamom, a relaxing and welcoming fragrance that, Markle’s website informs us, remains her all-time favorite.
Divorce? The Sussexes put the rumors to rest
In the post Instagram which accompanies the launch of the new candle, the Duchess added a definition that the British media immediately interpreted as a clarification on the recent rumors that the Sussexes are close to divorce: «The feeling of warm sunshine and blue skies, surrounded by laughter and love». No crisis, is therefore the message of Meghan and Harry. Their union, like that of the penguins who just arrived in Montecito, is stronger than ever.
