After two New Year’s Eves with corona restrictions, we can celebrate the turn of the year again this year with fireworks. However, rockets and firecrackers are no longer sold everywhere. The first markets go on firecracker strike.

You won’t find any crackers here:

► Hornbach hardware store chain: New Year’s firecrackers were removed from the range at the suggestion of “animal and environmental protection associations”.

► Also, many Obi markets no longer offer firecrackers or rockets – “for reasons of sustainability”. According to a spokeswoman, fireworks could only be sold in non-centrally controlled Obi branches.

Also in the firecracker strike: Globus hardware stores.

► According to the animal protection organization Peta, Toom hardware stores and Bauhaus branches have “assured that they will no longer sell fireworks in the future” because of the “potential danger of fireworks”.
