The British 500-pounder that was found in December during work under Stationsplein in Eindhoven was excavated on Sunday night by the EOD and police specialists. Part of the city center was closed off due to the excavation.

The bomb could only now be cleared because the necessary preparations were required for this operation. For example, train traffic had to be stopped. Because this was already planned for this weekend, due to track work, this moment was chosen for this operation.

After being excavated, the 500-pounder was taken to a location outside the city to be detonated. Construction of residential towers can now continue at the site where the aircraft bomb was found.
