Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastien Haller will play for his former club FC Utrecht for the rest of the season.

The 30-year-old professional was actually on loan to the Spanish first division team CD Leganés, but he didn’t play there (nine competitive games) and is now moving to the Netherlands. Haller played in Utrecht between 2015 and 2017 and scored 51 goals before his transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 30-year-old Ivory Coast international is tied to BVB until 2026, but since Serhou Guirassy was signed he no longer has a future with the Bundesliga club. “BVB wishes Sébastien Haller above all good health and, of course, a lot of working time and the greatest possible success in his new place of work,” said a club statement.

Haller moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Dortmund in 2022. He has completed, among other things, 33 games for BVB so far Bundesliga-Games with a total of nine goals and five assists as well as six Champions League games. He was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2022.
