In the surprisingly last episode of “Late Night Berlin”, Klaas Heufer-Umlauf said self-critically as a farewell: “I have the impression that it is better, you can tell yourself as if the door open at some point and then one of ProSieben and tells you that.”

The comedian was therefore not terminated, even if the ratings have dropped rapidly in the past few months. ProSieben is proud of Klaas Heufer-Umlauf and Joko Winterscheidt. Another show of the duo started with “a very good quiz (with a high profit amount), which at least ensures innovations in an increasingly uniform private broadcaster program. Even if the title can already be identified here.

“Late Night Berlin” was more of a late night simulation

Joko and class could go anywhere and do their pitches, ProSieben knows that too. So they might also suffer from the fact that a late night simulation, brassed from the start, was simply allowed to flicker for years.

Klaas Heufer-Umlauf is a prudent moderator, he can even act properly and some of his jokes even ignite. But that’s not enough for a show that has to set stimuli in the late evening program to be perceived.

It can certainly be assumed that the moderator Harald Schmidt has taken the model and possibly also one or the other US talker of his generation. But honestly: Hardly any action by “Late Night Berlin” got stuck. A lot was, as you can see in other formats.

The tunal chats with sidekick Jakob Lundt may have been a pleasant pastime in the meantime. But have they ever created a feeling of well -being to participate in the entertainment of two pointed social observers? Rather not.

Klaas Heufer-Umlauf appears everywhere

“Late Night Berlin” copied a broadcast concept that used to cause a sensation when television attracted everyone’s attention. Despite some infantile excursions, it is basically an adult structure that needs a lot of trust and care. This contradicts the approach of hyperventilation of the Internet age.

Late night moderators do this in the main job and not alongside tens of other shows. You become confidants for your viewers. Heufer-Umlauf could never really give the impression that his show is more than an advertising platform with a few funny calves and already for short clips on the Internet. So Stefan Raab once let “TV Total” deteriorate to the marginal note.

Like Jan Böhmermann, the comedian also lacks the desire to get involved in the late night trade. You always have the feeling that the stand-up part should rather pass quickly. It is better at the table. That is too little for striking comedy.
