Hardly any trains in North Holland on Monday due to strike, consequences for the whole country

On Monday, due to a strike by the trade unions, hardly any trains will be running in most of North Holland. That reports the NS Sunday. Because the North Holland train network is closely intertwined with that of other parts of the Netherlands, passengers throughout the country may experience inconvenience, according to the rail operator.

The NS has announced that it will not be using replacement buses. The carrier advises travelers in North Holland to find alternative transport or to postpone their journey. Trains do run to and from stations near the border of North Holland (Voorhout station, Almere Oostvaarders, Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA and Utrecht Central). The strike, which lasts all day, marks the third day of action of the announced relay strike by trade unions FNV, CNV and VVMC.

The train station of Schiphol Airport will remain accessible for “necessary journeys” via “limited train traffic” from Utrecht Central, according to the NS. Those who can get to the airport in another way are advised to do so.
