Hard opponents for Bavaria and Wolfsburg

For the first time, the women’s Champions League is also held in a league. The German teams are dealing with thick chunks.
The draw on the new league of the Champions League has it all: The top German teams Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg are dealing with some of the strongest clubs in Europe. Doublesieger Bayern meets, among other things, on defending champion FC Arsenal and FC Barcelona, who was in the final in the pre -season. Juventus Turin, Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid and outsider Vålerenga IF are also among the opponents.
For the first time, the women’s Champions League is held in the new league system – analogous to men’s mode. Instead of the classic preliminary round groups, the 18 qualified teams compete in a common league. The clubs were divided into three pots, Bavaria and Wolfsburg were each set in pot one. Each club was drawn from each pot two opponents- one for each home and one away game.
The best four teams in the final table move directly into the quarter -finals and have home rights in the second leg. The teams in the ranks five to twelve play the other quarterfinal places in a playoff round. Places 13 to 18 mean the immediate. The final will increase in Oslo in May 2026.
Last season, both Bavaria and Wolfsburg had left the quarter -finals – each against later final participants: Bavaria lost Arsenal, Wolfsburg lost against Barça.
In contrast, Eintracht Frankfurt will not be represented in the Champions League. The Hessians failed on Thursday in qualifying 0: 3 in the second leg at Real Madrid after they had already lost the first leg 1-2. For Eintracht, the second qualification round of the newly created UEFA Women’s Europa Cup continues. This competition is only held in co-mode with back and forth games.
