Happy end in para-slalom: Forster wins second gold – bronze for Rieder – Paralympics

Anna-Lena Forster gave the German team their fourth gold at the Paralympics in Beijing. In the alpine slalom in the sitting class, the 26-year-old monoskier won unchallenged and defended her title from Pyeongchang 2018.

Sitting: Forster distances the competition

Over the course of the two rounds at Xiaohaituo Mountain, she finished 2.32s ahead of China’s Wanjing Zhang, who took silver ahead of teammate Sitong Liu (+3.45s). Forster had previously secured gold in the Super Combined and silver in both the Downhill and Super-G.

Standing: Only Aarsjoe and Zhang faster than Rieder

Anna-Maria Rieder also experienced a happy ending in the standing class: After fifth place in the Super-G and the giant slalom and fourth place in the super combination, the 22-year-old now won bronze in the slalom.

Ebba Aarsjoe from Sweden, who fell heavily yesterday in the giant slalom, won the gold. Silver medalist Mengqiu Zhang (China) was 5.64 seconds back after two heats. Rieder was 8.74 seconds behind Aarsjoe. Anna Rothfuss was eliminated in the first round.
