It was only in the summer that FC Barcelona secured the services of Dani Olmo. Now the club could be forced to give the player away for free.

Just six months after moving to FC Barcelona, Dani Olmo could have to leave the club again. This is reported by the TV channel Sky. The reason for this is that Olmo’s re-registration for gaming operations could fail. The offensive player is currently only eligible to play until the end of the year.

The top Spanish club is still struggling financially. That’s why the Catalans were only able to register Olmo in the summer after they had realized salary savings by selling and loaning other players. Due to this delay, the European champions missed the first two games of the current LaLiga season.

This Sunday, league representatives and FC Barcelona officials will meet in Madrid to decide, among other things, on Olmo’s continued eligibility to play. According to Sky, the club has already sent the player positive signals regarding continued eligibility. A multi-billion dollar deal with Nike as well as savings from Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury break could give Barça the flexibility they need to register Olmo for the second half of the season.

According to Sky, Olmo himself feels comfortable in Barcelona and is not thinking about a move. The Spanish international believes in coach Hansi Flick and the team’s potential to win titles in the future.

If the registration fails, Olmo would be available on a free transfer from January, even though he signed a contract until 2030 in the summer. In this scenario, the Premiere League would be particularly important for Olmo. Teams like Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United were already interested in signing him last summer – as were FC Bayern and Juventus Turin.
