Hansa Rostock: Coach Jens Härtel extends contract

Nine points ahead

Coach Jens Härtel will stay with FC Hansa Rostock beyond the coming summer. As the club announced on Friday, the native of Saxony has extended his contract, which was originally due to expire, for another season. Assistant coach Ronny Thielemann’s working paper has also been expanded.

Haertel has been with Hansa since 2018, which he has managed in 138 games to date and has collected an average of 1.7 points. Last season, the 52-year-old led Rostock back into the 2nd Bundesliga after almost ten years. The team is currently in twelfth place there and has a nine-point lead over the relegation rank five games before the end of the season.

“Staying up in the league is not yet guaranteed, so it is still important to focus all your energy and concentration on this big goal. I am convinced that this will be possible with our team of coaches and I am happy to be able to continue the successful work with Jens Härtel and Ronny Thielemann in the following season,” sports director Martin Pieckenhagen is quoted as saying in a club statement.
